Oceans 8

Grey heavy clouds didn’t deter 8 mighty BCC on Saturday morning; they waved bye bye to Mr PC and Mr SC off on another blast to the seaside, and then wended their way out through Cary, the Cadbury’s, carefully avoided some feisty horses just south of Corton Denham, then up Beacon Lane and onto Sherborne. After enjoying the resurfacing of New Road round the back of the castle, we pushed onto Yetminster, being caught in the final mile or so by Mr AO (big Al) who’d managed to get a late pass. Old School Gallery gave prompt service of MASSIVE slices of great cakes to complement our Fnarr Fnarr conversation! and to fuel our journey back up to Bruton via the usual route.

Sunday saw 8 riders AGAIN! gather at the bridge, pleased that the ice of last week had gone - replaced instead with the usual West Country drizzle. Undeterred we set off via Glastonbury, where Mr Trims had to leave us for home duties. Onwards to the furthest point by Compton Bishop and the M5, going via Godney and Wedmore. As we turned, the weather worsened and we also noticed that we must have had a tail wind as we experience a full on facial wash and wind blast. A welcome break at Sweets broke the return journey nicely, and their generous cake portions were much appreciated. Warmed up and back on it, we took a steady pace for the final 20+ miles, all safely home having had a good day’s exercise. A big hand to Mr CP and Mr AF who were on strong form and to Dr L who managed to stay upright for the whole ride :) - an achievement in itself.
