To the Trough

To the Trough

The intrepid midweek riders were bolstered by a new member this week; welcome to Shaun - a sprightly and depressingly fit “youngster”. We left Bruton only slightly late (the one who delayed us shall remain nameless), led out by commander-in-chief Peter. The weather forecast promised cloudy but dry conditions; in true BCC tradition it rained for the first 1 1/2 hours, however the bedraggled quintet soldiered on with only minor moans and groans. Castle Cary, the Barrows, Sparkford, Queen Camel and Yeovilton all passed in a flash, and we were soon parking our bikes outside the Trough at Yeovilmarsh. Our sogged and muddy appearance attracted a few sniffy stares from some of the clientele , but the staff were welcoming (especially after Peter charmed one young lady). Reinforced by coffee and cakes we set out for home, with only a single puncture slowing us down. A great ride, enjoyed by all. Thanks to Peter for leading.
