Rob Angell of XpressoFix fame has offered to run a bike maintenance course covering all aspects of keeping your bike on the road - from basic roadside fixes, to more detailed work on brakes, gears, chains and the like. He’s put together a very favourable rate for BCC Members for this course to be run over 6 evenings out of the Market House in Castle Cary.
Please have a look at the information below and if you’d like to sign up contact Rob direct on rob@xpressofix.co.uk
What’s it all about?
This is a set of six sessions that you can pick and choose from or do all of them. They will be designed and led by Rob Angell (www.xpressofix.co.uk ) a trained bike mechanic with years of experience.
There are two “Must Do” sessions to help you learn how to be better at keeping yourself going if things go wrong while you’re on the road, including the essential tweaks you may need to make to gears, brakes, wheels and headsets. And perhaps crucially, becoming confident and proficient at changing tubes / fixing roadside punctures.
There are four “Essential” sessions to help you learn how to do the essentials to your bike such as installing and adjusting the common gear systems, replacing inner and outer gear & brake cables, how to properly set up and maintain brakes, how to be good at everyday care and maintenance and how to pack your bike well for travel.
Each session would normally cost £25/person but are on offer for BCC members for £20/person. But you can save even more by doing all six of these sessions for £108 (or £18/session).
There are an extra four, “Advanced Sessions” on offer that are designed to take you to the next level of competence. The cost and length of these sessions are going to be dependant on numbers and having either done the earlier sessions or having sufficient prior experience.
Overall, this is an opportunity to either improve things you already do, learn some new skills or to just properly understand how your bike works and when it needs work and maintenance.
