Sandra's 100

INFORMATION FROM YEOVIL CYCLING CLUB

On the 14th August Yeovil Cycling Club will be hosting Sandra's Hundred. This is a 100 mile ride around the flat bits of Somerset. Originally, the route was devised to allow one of our members, Sandra, to realise her ambition of riding 100 miles in a day. This she did, in 2014 and annually (except during the pandemic) we have repeated the event, using the same route. At least 40 people have ridden their first and in some cases their only century on this ride. If you fancy a nice day out on your bike with the added intensive of covering 100 miles, please come along. We start and finish the ride from Mudford Road Recreation Ground (Chilton Grove entrance) in Yeovil. The riders split up into groups of 12 or less, according to whatever speed is comfortable. The slower riders move off at around 8am and the other groups follow on in intervals up to 9.30, when the last and fastest cyclists begin. There will be free feed stops with food and cold drinks at 25 and 75 miles and lunch stops (not free) at either Sweet's at Westhay or Avalon Marshes, the route passes close to both at around half way. This event is not a Sportive or strictly a charity ride and there are no medals or goody bags. The event is free and although you can chip in, for the the Yeovil Hospital Breast Cancer Appeal, there is no obligation to do so. Please feel free to bring your whole club or part of your club or just come and ride as individuals. So, if you want to tick off 100 miles on your bucket list, fancy a nice day out or want to achieve a PB come on out and join us.
