Saturday Rainday, Sunny Sunday
Well there were lots of us for coffee @ At the Chapel come 8.30am Saturday morning, but only 3 in Lycra with the intention of cycling. Some fun banter about all the poor road conditions, then the brave 3 headed out under grey but initially dry skies. The rain came, as we knew it would, but we pressed on, it being the first time in weeks any of the club had braved a Saturday AM outing. Whilst Dr L and Mr DB were chatting away, they heard a clatter behind them, only to see that Mr SE had exited out the front door, having jammed finger between front fork and tyre thus acting as an effective brake. Several hours later some more breaks were discovered under Xray, a sling applied, and a sore Mr SE headed home to lick his wounds. Don’t fret, Dr L and Mr DB did finish their intended 50km loop once they’d arranged a rescue party for Mr SE!
A great improvement in the weather saw 4 mighty BCC meet on Church Bridge, with a myriad of excuses on WhatsApp from the rest of the membership. Dr L and Mr AO led Mr PT and Mr SI out as far as Somerton, then they split with the former 2 heading down to Forde Abbey, the latter to Langport. On the Forde Abbey loop, after a pleasant stop despite the lack of bacon sarnies, there seemed to be hill after hill after hill - added to that a return head wind and Dr L and Mr AO felt quite shattered on their return home. The sun was nice, the colours were glorious…. the bike cleaning happened.
