Here comes Summer

Great to see two new faces on the Saturday social ride to Haynes Motor Museum. Len from Castle Cary Cycle club and a BCC rider Matt, who hasn’t been out for a while. It was a super flattish ride from Bruton Cycle Club’s starting point at On The Brook cafe, to Sparkford and back through some delightful country lanes. Made all the more enjoyable with warm sunshine.

In the meantime Mr W rose at 3am, gathered at the beach in Minster on Sea (Isle of Sheppey) and at 4.42am departed there for Burnham On Sea, 205 miles due West on the annual Chase the Sun event. Start at sunrise, finish by sunset is the aim. Mr JG and Mr AO met Mr W around Pewsey (130miles in) and were very good domestiques for the final 75m. Mr W was pleased with a top 20 finish, constant 18mph average and around 12hrs cycling time, finishing well before sunset.

Sunday was select - just Mr SC and Dr L on the bridge at 9am to enjoy the delightful lanes and gorgeously resurfaced Zig Zag hill on their ride out to Tarrant Gunville and the as ever brilliant Home Farm Shop and cafe. More pleasant lanes back via Child Okeford, Buckhorn Weston on the return leg - good amounts of climbing and decent pace. Much fun.
