Indian Summer Ahhhhhh

Indian Summer Ahhhhhh

Glorious weekend for exploring our lovely lanes. 8 headed out from On the Brook on Saturday morning, bit of Chain Gang out to Lovington then turned up through the back lanes to Street to check out Bocabar in the Red Brick Buildings. Numbers swelled to 11 with the addition of Sarah and Steve, Dr L’s mates from Deepest Dorset! Then Mr RM arrived with pockets bulging after fleecing some poor balloon owners who’d happened upon his fields that morning. Lots of great breakfasts were had, before the roll back to Bruton and beyond, not hampered by the delightful resurfacing attempts by the council.

Sunday brought more sunshine, and an amazing event - more than One Female on a Sunday ride - YAY. So Miss JP, Dr L, Trims and Mr SC headed out up Druly, Motcombe, Zig Zag, and finally Ashmore hills with fun descents, biplanes and dappled light from the slowly thinning trees on their way to Tarrant Gunville, and the as ever great Home Farm tea rooms. Then we enjoyed the great lanes back via Child Okeford. Dr L peeled away at Fifehead Magdalen (to press apples if you believe that!) while Trims and Mr SC escorted Miss JP back to Bruton. Glorious Sunday ride. Hope we have a few more of these before the chill sets in.
