Idyllic Saturday and Treasure Hunting Sunday

Idyllic Saturday and Treasure Hunting Sunday

Saturday’s ride was delightful - surprised that only 7 of us made it out considering the forthcoming weather forecast. Mr PT had rather tired legs from Chain gang the day before, but after some gentle persuasion pressed on, through the pretty villages of Holton, Mapperton, Charlton Horethorne, and Milborne Wick. Then on through Goathill and Haydon, with the pack starting to think where the blazes we were going. Finally we made a right turn, grabbed a tail wind and were in Yetminster. The Old School Gallery and Cafe was welcoming as ever, and the cake choice completely OTT as usual. Mr Trims and Mr RM had family duties to attend to so shot off home ahead of the remaining BCC who made it back to Bruton at a more leisurely pace. Good day out in the sun.

Sunday brought rain, lots of rain. Mr TW felt Scotland needed his support in the Rubgy world cup so declined to lead a ride to Burnham in the deluge, but some brave BCC got out later, namely Mr RM and Mr SC - saying that they HAD to dart for cover at Shepton Montague - handy there’s a pub there…. The rouse they sold to their better halves was that they were on a treasure hunt for a water bottle lost on yesterday’s ride. So they duly retraced the route, stopped off with Dr L and Mr TW who’d been wooses and only Zwifted today, then trundled back into Bruton in the dark gone 8pm. Brave and Mighty BCC
