Don't let a bit of Weather bother you

The midweek peloton made it to the Feed Station at Merriott despite constant rain and winds. Great effort Chaps. Mr DB was excused the full route to attend his first aid course. Which nearly came in handy after hitting pot hole downhill at speed. Good skills Mr DB to remain upright….

Saturday brought more humidity and wet stuff than the amassed riders had banked on - and who were those 3 men on our usual table At the Chapel, they claimed to be club members having a Saturday off the bike, rum excuse (you know who you are). Still, Mr TW, Mr AF, Dr L, Mr DB, Mr SB and Mr SC headed out under slowly clearing skies, over to Wincanton, Buckhorn Weston and out to Child Okeford. Mr SC was desperate to do some hill climbs but his fellow riders wimped out at the first whiff of coffee and cake! Turned out to be much needed fuel - the head wind on the way home was brutal, Dr L resorting to drafting behind Mr TW most of the way west from Wincanton on the route home.

Another blustery night and thus start to Sunday morning meant a delayed depart. Mr CP got out solo at 9.30 using the strong winds as a good training exercise - brave man. Mr TW and Mr Trims had their own mini chain gang out of Bruton at 11am. Usual route over to Glasto, then onto Sweets for much needed fuel. They’d only managed 16.5mph average on the way out, but the tailwind and sheer determination got that up to over 18mph by the roll into Bruton. Competitive… never….
