Bean Shot withdrawal and Sportive Recce

Bean Shot withdrawal and Sportive Recce

9 of us appeared at At the Chapel on Bruton High Street for coffee on Saturday morning - and we were even allowed UPSTAIRS in our silly shoes and lycra!!!. From end of March, downstairs service will be resumed. Good to have another new recruit (S. Esc) who we didn’t lose, beast or hopefully annoy, so perhaps we’ll see you again next week Steve. Strong South Westerly meant a sheltered route to Sherborne and back, good to see Sam, serving the coffee as only he can do, at Bean Shot.

7 headed out on Sunday, with the younger 2 having to peel back home (to cook Mr SC’s dinner in one case), while the other 5 did more cyclocross than road riding for the first 15 miles, checking out the Sportive Long Route by pedal power. Welcome stop at the Shillingstone Railway Cafe, unwelcome stops of 2 punctures for Mr E, then up Bullbarrow before turning back up to Bruton. Have to say there’s quite a bit of climbing on the route but the views and lanes are fantastic. Tell your mates, it should be a great Sportive come 11th May.
