The Magnificent 7 and the Mallorca 312

The Magnificent 7 and the Mallorca 312

Well that was a successful trip. 7 went out to Mallorca, stayed in a great hotel (Thanks Mr C), enjoyed 3 days riding prior to Saturday 27th, when we all cycled, perhaps a bit tentatively up to the start of the Mallorca 312 event. Got a reasonable place on the start line, and before we knew it we were on the first climb of the many to come. Over 5000m of climbing over the 312km course. Mr P Croom went off the front as expected and finished an hour ahead of the rest of the Bruton crew. Mr S Carr, very new to cycling, did amazingly, staying with the main Bruton pack up to the 225/312 split point, but then opting for the middle distance (225km). The other 5 of us Dr L, Mr E, Mr M, Mr T and Mr JG pressed on for the final leg - on the less desirable road surfaces. We made it to the final feed station at Arta just after 7pm, enjoyed a swift beer, and hit the road for the whizz back to the finish. All returned in under 13hrs, knocking 45mins off last years times. No punctures, no accidents. And now for a rest…. Oh we did ride the next 2 days before we flew home though!
