A tad Damp #Veluminati Rule 9
Saturday 12.10 - Ride report Mr Lunn
The drawing of the curtains revealed dark clouds forming over Bratton Seymour.
To bike or not to bike, that was the question.
With the rugby cancelled due to typhoon Hagibis and having suggested the route there was little option but to put on the wet weather gear and head out to On the Brook. Even Sophie questioned why she had left her cosy bed to open for two coffees (Mr KL joined by a non-riding Mr SC offering moral support).
Numbers swelled with the arrival of Mr AF and Mr SB and Mr CT picked up en route to form a small but hardened group riding into the stygian gloom towards Druley Hill. A wet and dismal day but brightened by Mr AF’s new bike which had been cleaned 3 times in the previous week. Through Maiden Bradley, up the Deverills and over Mere Down, the Gang of Four coasted into Mere for a well timed coffee and bacon sarnie in the flying teapot aka Angel Tearooms. A quick return home past Stourhead and back down Druley – a perfect route for a wet and windy autumnal morning!
Sunday 13.10 - Ride report Mr Walker
Whilst some less bad ass BCC members hit their turbo trainers, three hardy souls (Mr TW, Mr AF & Mr DC) set off in the rain to visit Abbotts Tea Room in Cerne Abbas. Fortunately the airborne water stopped falling after half an hour; unfortunately all the water that had fallen previously meant much cycling across lakes in the road (one of which caused a car to turn back!) The route, which had been travelled before, is a lovely ride on quiet roads with a few hills to keep the cyclists honest. Abbott’s provided some good bacon and eggs and didn’t seem too fazed with 3 soggy cyclists parking their wet bums on their furniture - many thanks to them. The ride home was actually quite pleasurable and all agreed it was worth the damp start. Autumn is definitely here!
