Saturday Shearwater and Longleat Loop

Saturday Shearwater and Longleat Loop

Eight members met at On The Brook for pre-ride Caffeine and Calories before seven set off. Mr SB peeled off before Druley Hill to save his energy for the Somerset 100 on Sunday (Probably Wise). After the fun that is D Hill we then savored the rolling run down to Shearwater. There was an excellent choice on the cake display at Shearwater Tea Rooms and all pulled away from the cafe well fueled and watered.

After looping around the back of Center Parks we took the very pretty closed entrance to Longleat that comes off the A36 roundabout. Lots of plants in flower and photos were taken. Down through the estate, overtaking cars and vans and then another slightly ‘Off the Beaten Trail’ lane out of the estate took us to Bunns Lane (No we didn’t eat again!)

We then wound our way back through Witham Friary (Avoiding Bovines) and skirted Upton Noble then back to Bruton. Really enjoyable Saturday ride.
